Multi-Beam Scheduling for Uplink and Downlink to Reduce Latency in Data Relay Satellite

(in English) Toward real-time services with wide coverage in Beyond 5G/6G, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations, which can achieve lower latency compared to geostationary satellites, are increasingly expected to play an important role. In direct data relay between two terrestrial sites via LEO satellites, LEO satellites switch the directions of multiple beams for both uplink and downlink by time-division to accommodate extensive traffic demands. In this scenario, the end-to-end latency is increased by waiting time until beam illumination, channel states for uplink/downlink, and data accumulation due to satellite buffer capacity limitations. In this paper, we propose a scheduling method for uplink and downlink multi-beam direction that achieves low-latency data relay under satellite buffer capacity limitations and demonstrate its effectiveness by simulation results.
