In this paper, the distribution of elements of a conducting-reflector-backed dipole metasurface to generate spatially orthogonal electric field for computational microwave imaging (Computational Microwave Imaging, CMI) is studied. In the CMI, it is necessary to illuminate the target by spatially orthogonal patterns to multiplex the information. A key study in this framework is therefore to enhance the spatial diversity of the electric field in the imaging area. A conducting-reflector-backed dipole metasurface consists of a conducting reflector and palastic dipoles. Various electric field patterns can be generated by controlling the excitation of each dipole element.
This report proposes a design method for distribution of elements by using binary matrices and evaluating their similarities. The correlations between the electric field patterns and the correlations between frequencies with the designed dipole arrays are sufficiently low. This indicates the proposed design method can leverage both spatial and frequency diversity. |
