Partial Deployment of CCN Using a Translation Proxy for Adaptive Streaming Services

(in English) In recent years, with the widespread use of video streaming services, the majority of Internet traffic has come to be occupied by video content. In particular, HTTP-based adaptive streaming has been widely adopted as a technology that dynamically switches video quality according to network conditions. However, when multiple clients watch the same content, each client retrieves it individually from the CDN server, causing redundant traffic and decreased throughput. In this study, we propose and implement an IP/CCN (Content-Centric Networking) proxy that bridges conventional IP networks and CCN, enabling video content obtained from CDNs to be cached and shared within the CCN. This approach aims to reduce traffic and improve the acquisition rate of high-resolution content. Through evaluation experiments comparing IP and CCN environments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of throughput and obtained resolution.
