(in English) This study proposes a "Bus Lane Toll System" that allows private vehicles to access bus-only lanes for a fee, with the aim of optimizing the use of dedicated bus lanes in urban areas. Bus-only lanes are developed to ensure the punctuality and rapid transit of buses, which are a form of public transportation, thereby contributing to the efficiency of urban traffic. However, depending on road structure and traffic volume, these lanes may relatively increase congestion in general-purpose lanes. Focusing on the Shidami area of Moriyama Ward, Nagoya City in Aichi Prefecture, the study employs the traffic simulation software PTV Vissim to quantitatively evaluate changes in traffic indicators—travel time, congestion level, traffic volume, and average speed—based on different bus lane access scenarios. The results confirmed travel time reductions for toll system users, while also revealing challenges such as congestion at the lane exit and a decline in overall service performance.
