A wireless sensor network WSN is widely used in various applications, having its relevant issues discussed over two decades. There in classic WSN models, each sensor node SN is forced to operate under severe resource limitations. One of the most popular WSN models is composed of many SNs which are randomly deployed in a field. There the base station BS to collect all sensed data and to connect to the outside user is located far away from its WSN field. Roughly, layer-3 routings for WSN models are classified into either a centralized or distributed way by where data transmission routes are decided. In the former way, it is the BS that decides such routes, while it is SNs that decide them in a self-organized way in the latter. As a joint of distributed and centralized ways, we have so far proposed a switch routing and examined its validity. There still remain several issues. One of them is that we have not considered the cost of transferring energy information of SNs. That is, the BS always knows all SN’s present energy without any cost. In this report, we consider a transfer cost of energy information by three methods, i.e., direct piggyback to sensed data, construction of a supergraph with inferred link distance, and node costs transfer of a directed spanning in-tree. Simulation experiments show that the latter two methods, which makes the switch routing almost centralized, provide almost the same results of a switch routing with no cost of energy information transfer. |
