Spectral and beam control in the terahertz-wave generation by surface phonon emissions

(in English) The frequency range covered by solid-state terahertz wave light sources developed in recent years intermittently includes forbidden bands where terahertz waves cannot be generated. Surface phonon emission using diffraction gratings has been reported as a method to generate terahertz waves within these forbidden bands. However, this method results in weak radiations, a broad spectrum, and angular dispersion in the propagation direction. Therefore, in this study, we study a new configuration for controlling the frequency and spatial distribution of surface phonon emission and performs operational analysis using the finite element method.
