Complex Forward-Forward Algorithm

(in English) Methods that do not use backpropagation have lower computational costs and can be deployed on edge devices. Therefore, research is being conducted on these methods as alternatives to backpropagation and for training on edge devices. Furthermore, learning methods that do not use backpropagation have biological plausibility. Therefore, they hold potential as a starting point for elucidating the mechanisms of the brain. However, these network structures are fundamentally fully connected and lack the complex network properties found in the brain. Therefore, this study proposes replacing the network structure of Forward-Forward Algorithm (FFA) with a complex network. By converting existing complex networks into bipartite graphs and applying them to the FFA, we analyze the impact of network structure on the FFA. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves higher classification accuracy and faster convergence speed compared to FFA network structures with the same number of branches.
