Dynamics of lipid monolayer coating microbubbles for ultrasound medicine

(in English) Lipid monolayers are usually used as shells for bubbles in medical applications. Under ultrasound, these lipid-coated bubbles start to oscillate. Until now, most models for lipid shell neglect the possibility of frequency dependence of mechanical properties of lipid monolayer. In this study, we derived dynamical equations for lipid monolayer following the analysis by Fournier [1]. The derived dynamical equations can describe the relaxation dynamics of lipid monolayer under small perturbation. Our results suggest that the lipid monolayer properties might depend on frequency of ultrasound, since at the relevant timescale, lipid monolayer can become fully relaxed or not.
