Investigation of Interpolation Methods for Radio Map Generation Using Real-Time Spectrum Monitors

(in English) To maintain stable communication in a smart factory, it is important to understand the wireless environment.
Considering that the environment constantly changes, it is necessary to update the radio map in real time during measurement.
In this investigation, we propose a method for generating a radio map by time-synchronizing multiple real-time spectrum monitors and interpolating the acquired data.
Furthermore, as an interpolation method, we introduce an obstacle parameter into the conventional inverse distance weighting (IDW) method and develop two approaches: (I) a general-purpose approach based on measured data obtained in other environments, and (II) an optimization approach based on measurements in the same environment.
We measured the received power in a factory environment and compared the proposed approaches with the conventional interpolation method in
terms of radio map accuracy and computation time.
The results showed that approach II improved interpolation accuracy by up to 2.40 dB compared with the conventional method (IDW and kriging), while maintaining a similar computation time. These results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method for real-time radio map generation.
