Risk Analysis of Synthetic Data Utilization in Face Recognition Models

(in English) In recent years, synthetic data generated by image generation models such as diffusion models has attracted attention as an effective means of data augmentation in the field of face recognition.
However, the effects of artifacts on recognition accuracy and the interaction with face anti-spoofing systems in real-world environments have not been sufficiently investigated.
In this study, we evaluate the performance of face recognition models trained on synthetic data, analyze the associated risks, and quantitatively examine performance variations.
Based on the findings, we discuss guidelines for the safe and effective utilization of synthetic data in face recognition.
