Conventional planar metasurface reflectors restrict their installation location to flat wall surfaces. To install the reflectors on curved surface shapes (dome, cars, etc.), conformal reconfigurable intelligent surface (CRIS) with a flexible printed circuit (FPC) substrate have been proposed. Since the thickness of the FPC substrates are from 0.08 mm to 0.26 mm, it is difficult to control the reflection phase due to the small inductance of thin substrate. In this paper, we propose a CRIS with air gaps between two FPC substrates. Based on generalized Snell's law, electromagnetic field simulations demonstrate that designing the proposed reflector enables adaptive control of the reflection direction even when the reflector's shape changes. |
