A Study of a Coordinated MU-MIMO Canceller by Using SRS

(in English) In mobile communication systems such as 5G, ultra-high-speed data transmission anywhere within a cell is expected. In cellular systems, which the same frequency is repeatedly reused in all cells, communication quality deteriorates due to adjacent cell interference, especially neighboring cell boundaries. The authors have proposed an interference cancellation technique neighboring cell boundaries that simultaneously uses a virtual cell MU-MIMO canceler and adaptive beamforming to cancel inter-cell interference by forming a virtual cell in which neighboring base stations cooperate with each other. In 4G and 5G systems, Sounding Reference Signals (SRS) are defined to estimate the propagation channel response of terminals in neighboring cells. However, since SRS is typically transmitted at intervals of several tens of milliseconds, there are concerns that the accuracy of channel estimation using SRS may degrade for high-mobility users, potentially impacting interference . In practice, however, most users are indoors and therefore have low mobility, meaning that channel estimation using SRS is generally sufficient. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of a proposed coordinated MU-MIMO canceller for both uplink and downlink transmissions, taking into account the actual mobility of users.
