Scattering Characteristics of Monopole Antenna Covered by Huygens' Metasurface Naobumi Michishita (National Defense Academy) EMT2025-60 |

A mantle cloak can control the radio waves incident on an object, and has attracted attention for many applications such as scattering suppression and mutual coupling reduction. However, the transmission loss at the backside of the object cannot be eliminated due to the loss of the materials. This paper presents a monopole antenna covered with a Huygens' metasurface to compensate for the loss of mantle cloak by enhancing the forward scattering. A monopole antenna, one of the basic elements, is used as the antenna, and a three-layer Jerusalem cross structure is used as the unit cell structure of the Huygens' metasurface. The dimensions of monopole antenna and the Huygens' metasurface are optimized, and the monopole antenna operates in the 7 GHz band. The radiation pattern can be maintained even the monopole antenna covered with the Huygens' metasurface. Furthermore, the enhancement of the forward scattering is obtained in the simulation. |
