Equalization for Diagonal Elements of Triangular Matrices and Application to Overloaded MIMO Systems

(in English) In this paper, we propose a method for generating linear receive filters for linear overloaded MIMO systems can transmit and receive more signal streams than the number of transmit or receive antennas.
This overloaded MIMO system consists of an MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error) precoder and a linear receiver filter, SNR (Signal to Noise Power Ratio) of the received signal depends on the characteristics of the receive filter.
This receive filter is generated using the channel matrix and a unitary matrix that performs upper triangulation.
To reduce the variance of noise components occurring in each multiplexed stream, we propose a new triangulation method that equalizes the diagonal elements of the upper triangular matrix constituting the noise components.
We verify the performance of the overload MIMO system using the spatial receive filter generated by the proposed triangulation method through the simulation.
We confirm that spatial multiplexing of signals exceeding the number of transmit and receive antennas is achievable for any MIMO channel from the simulation.
