This paper organizes and evaluates architectures for implementing Continuous Authentication (CA) using physiological signals, focusing on processing locations and network configurations. We extracted seven practical configurations based on signal processing placement (Device, MEC, Cloud) and sensor connectivity and clarified their suitability for specific use cases through qualitative evaluation based on requirements such as latency and resource efficiency. Furthermore, we developed a prototype system using a commercial 5G network and an MEC server to conduct a performance comparison against a public cloud and a quantitative evaluation using a real application. The results confirm that the MEC-integrated architecture provides lower latency and higher stability compared to the cloud-integrated architecture. Additionally, we demonstrated that MEC offloading resolves device resource saturation, highlighting its effectiveness for the future implementation of advanced analysis. |
