[Invited Lecture] Docomo's Initiatives towards Service-oriented Communication Networks via Open Gateway

(in English) This presentation explores the global initiative known as GSMA Open Gateway, which aims to standardize and open telecommunications capabilities as APIs, and outlines NTT DOCOMO’s ongoing efforts toward its realization. After providing an overview of ecosystem development—including API standardization by CAMARA and the aggregation model—we report on the commercial deployment of DOCOMO’s Identity Verification Assist API and a cross-border interoperability proof-of-concept (PoC) for the Quality on Demand (QoD) API conducted in collaboration with KT (South Korea) and China Mobile (China). Furthermore, we introduce demonstration use cases for next-generation mobility (Software Defined Vehicles), which integrate Web3 technologies with network APIs. Through these examples, we examine the business model transformation required to elevate communication networks into platforms for value creation, along with the long-term prospects and challenges for broader adoption.
