Effects of interaural level and time difference adjustment on sound field synthesis in beamforming-based binaural reproduction

(in English) In this study, we investigate a system that virtually reproduces a sound space by capturing directional sound signals with beamforming and convolving the resulting signals with corresponding Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs) to synthesize the signals for each ear.Previous studies have indicated that spatial reproduction accuracy is insufficient in the high-frequency range. Separately from this, our previous study suggested that considering interaural signal differences is effective and could improve perceptual accuracy. Therefore, in this report, we investigate a method that applies compensation to beamformed signals to reproduce the interaural level difference (ILD) and interaural time difference (ITD) of the original sound field. The results of both objective and subjective evaluations demonstrated that localization accuracy was improved without degrading the timbre.
