Anodic oxidation of aluminum alloys by electrolytic sulfuric acid

Anodic oxidation is a process in which an oxide film is formed on the surface layer by energizing the metal as an anode in the electrolytic solution.
In this study, we examined the effect of various oxidants on the anodic oxidation of aluminum alloys by electrolytic sulfuric acid.
The Raman spectrum after anodization shows that the peak of peroxodisulfuric acid is lower than before anodization. It was also found that the total concentration of oxidants decreased by approximately 0.5–1.0 g/l. Vicker’s hardness was slightly harder in the electrolyzed sulfuric acid bath than in the sulfuric acid bath, approximately 1.1 times harder. Surface observation by FE-SEM revealed that micropores of about 5~10 nm in all samples. Chemical bonding state analysis of the surface by XPS revealed a peak of Al2O3 in both samples. |
