This paper proposes a decentralized peer-selection system to shorten latency in Ethereum-based IoT blockchains. The proposed system employs a virtual coordinate system (VCS) constructed using the Vivaldi algorithm to reflect round-trip time (RTT) among all discovered nodes, and clusters nodes in the VCS space. Each node preferentially selects peers within the same cluster to establish low-latency connections, while also selecting peers from different clusters to preserve network-wide connectivity. This design reduces unnecessary round-trip communications while maintaining data propagation across the peer-to-peer (P2P) network.Unlike conventional score-based schemes that evaluate only currently connected peers, the proposed system evaluates the entire set of discovered nodes, thereby eliminating search-range limitations. The system is implemented on libp2p and Prysm. Experimental evaluation in a 60-node high-latency environment demonstrates a 13.8 % reduction in the time from block transmission to complete reception by all nodes compared with the existing method, Perigee. |
