[Invited Lecture] Fundamental Study Aimed at Wireless Power Transfer for Sensing Tools in Machining Processes

(in English) We are developing a sensing tool to monitor the state of cutting processes. However, the current sensing tools are powered by batteries, which presents challenges such as the cost of battery replacements. The authors aim to drive the sensing tool using wireless power transfer. This report presents the results of designing and evaluating a rectenna operating at 5.7 GHz band, which is integrated into an aluminum cabinet that simulates a cutting tool. In a counter-experiment conducted with a transmission power of 30W and a transmission distance of 1000mm, a DC output power of 0.45W was obtained from the rectenna, confirming that this power is sufficient to operate the sensing tool.
