Smartphones are widely used today. However, during large scale disasters such as earthquakes and extreme weather events, existing communication infrastructure can be severely damaged. Therefore, it becomes difficult to collect disaster information and communicate among affected people. In such situations, DTN has attracted attention as a communication method that enables direct communication between devices without relying on infrastructure. We have proposed a MATOC as a routing method for DTN. This method assigns importance levels to data and controls data transmission based on their importance. However, when disasters cause isolated areas, information sharing is possible inside each isolated area. Information exchange between different isolated areas becomes difficult. We apply MATOC with a message ferry method using UAVs as mobile base stations. This approach enables information exchange between isolated areas. After improving the issues identified in our previous work, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method through simulations. Simulation results show that MATOC improves the propagation rate of high priority data compared with conventional routing methods. In addition, we show the effects of the number of UAVs, movement speed, and hovering on the propagation rate and propagation speed of high priority data. |
