| （英） | This study examines the relationship between self-presentation and mental health—specifically subjective well-being (SWB) and depression tendency (DT), including the mediating effects of social media use and social support. We conducted two online surveys among university students in Japan (n=462) and Hong Kong (n=460), and conducted structural equation modeling analysis. The results indicated that participants in Hong Kong spent more time using digital devices than those in Japan. Participants’ “Intimidation” led to posting more frequently and spending more time on social media, which increased DT in Japan; while participants’ “Intimidation” led to spending longer on social media, which led to more DT, but “Exemplification” led to posting more frequently on social media, which had a positive relationship with their SWB in Hong Kong. | |
