Logical thinking and emotional thinking each have their own limitations, necessitating complementary thinking. The author treats logical thinking and emotional thinking as independent domains of thought, proposes a four-quadrant transformation relationship (CERA), and clarifies a framework for overcoming the limitations of both types of thinking.
In this paper, by generalizing CERA, we propose the FIRE model, a dynamic four-quadrant transformation process that circulates between two modes of thinking: directness (D) and abstractness (A).
The FIRE model is a dynamic four-quadrant transformation process that circulates between two modes of thinking: directness (D) and abstractness (A). The FIRE model (Formalization → Inference → Reiteration → Embodiment) symbolizes the ideal intellectual activity process in which thought unfolds and manifests into reality.
The FIRE model explains the back-and-forth movement between direct emotional thinking and abstract logical thinking, rather than requiring a choice between the two. It also illustrates the similarities and differences between organizational innovation approaches such as duality and co-specialization, as well as knowledge creation approaches. |
