Business Rule Extraction from Legacy COBOL Programs with ChatGPT

(in English) In order to transition from the current core system to a replacement system, it became necessary to extract the business rules embedded in the current core system.
In this study, we attempted to analyze and extract business rules using ChatGPT from programs written in COBOL.
The obtained rules were reviewed by multiple stakeholders.
As a result, 91 effective business rules to be introduced into the new system were obtained.
This article provides a detailed report on the tasks required to ensure that stakeholders understand the business rules obtained through the application of ChatGPT, as well as the contents of the interviews conducted with the stakeholders.
