This paper proposes a multi-carrier transmission scheme called Constant Amplitude Zero Auto-Correlation (CAZAC) Chirp Division Multiplexing (CCDM), which is robust against doubly selective channels. While Affine Frequency Division Multiplexing (AFDM) is a promising waveform for high-mobility communications, it requires complex parameter tuning and a specialized guard interval. The proposed CCDM exploits the orthogonality of cyclically shifted Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequences for multiplexing. It features a single tunable parameter, the textit{root index}, which allows for flexible adjustment of Doppler resilience, and utilizes a standard Cyclic Prefix (CP) compatible with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). Furthermore, the proposed CCDM can be implemented with a fast modulation/demodulation algorithm based on matrix decomposition. Simulation results demonstrate that CCDM outperforms Orthogonal Chirp Division Multiplexing (OCDM) in high Doppler environments and achieves full diversity gain comparable to AFDM with appropriate selection of the root index. |
