Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), which has been widely adopted in current wireless communication systems, suffers from transmission inefficiency due to a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR).
To address this issue, the uplink typically employs discrete Fourier transform-spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM), which achieves a relatively low PAPR.
In this paper, we further investigate PAPR reduction by applying the clipping and filtering (CAF) technique.
Although CAF can significantly reduce the PAPR, it introduces nonlinear distortion that must be compensated for at the receiver.
To this end, we design an iterative demodulation scheme based on vector approximate message passing (VAMP), using a linear model obtained from the Bussgang decomposition of the received signal.
Computer simulation results for DFT-s-OFDM systems demonstrate that the proposed method achieves high-accuracy demodulation while maintaining low computational complexity. |
