Access Control Method with Terminal Responses in Uplink Terminal Cooperative Communication System

(in English) Terminal-cooperative communication systems enable a mobile station (MS) to share transmitted information with neighboring terminals and cooperate with them, thereby forming a virtual large-scale MIMO system and achieving spatial multiplexing transmission. In this study, to improve uplink throughput, we propose inter-terminal access control schemes that can efficiently control and select neighboring terminals while maintaining large inter-terminal distances. Specifically, three inter-terminal access control schemes incorporating terminal responses are proposed. These schemes differ in the timing structure of MS transmissions and neighboring terminal responses: a scheme that shares transmission and response periods, a scheme that separates them, and a scheme that performs MS transmission and terminal responses sequentially. Through simulation-based evaluations, we demonstrate that the proposed three schemes, compared with conventional methods, can stably control the number of cooperating terminals per MS while maintaining larger inter-terminal distances.
