(in English) To accommodate increasing mobile traffic, centralized radio access networks (C-RAN) using small cells
have been investigated. However, since traffic fluctuates depending on location and time of day, the effectiveness
of fixed-deployment small cells is limited. To overcome this challenge, we have proposed an adaptive network ar
chitecture where crowdsourced radio units (CRUs) mounted on vehicles operate as small cells in response to traffic
demand. This report clarifies the throughput characteristics of the proposed scheme by combining actual user distri
bution and vehicle distribution data from the Nishi-Shinjuku area, Japan. We examine two CRU selection schemes:
uniform placement, which selects CRUs evenly from the vehicle distribution, and concentrated placement, which
selects more CRUs from vehicles in areas with high user concentration. Computer simulation results evaluated
performance in areas with different user and vehicle distributions, and demonstrated that using CRUs selected via
concentrated placement in congested areas improves throughput.
