A Study of Sparse Noncoherent Codes

(in English) In this paper, we propose a sparse Grassmannian codes design for noncoherent MIMO systems. We modify the conventional pairwise error probability under Rayleigh fading channels to address a specific case caused by sparse configuration. Additionally, we derive a closed-form metric that effectively maximizes the noncoherent average mutual information (AMI) under the same channels. We focus on the fact that the Schubert cell decomposition of the Grassmann manifold offers mathematically sparse property, and establish design criteria for sparse noncoherent codes based on these analyses. In numerical results, the proposed sparse noncoherent codes outperforms conventional methods in both terms of symbol error rate and AMI, and approaches the theoretically optimal performance asymptotically, while imposing sparse constraints.
