Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This study focuses on the instability of wireless communication in agricultural fields and aims to develop a radio propagation analysis model specialized for greenhouse environments. As a reference for comparison, propagation measurements were first conducted in an actual tomato greenhouse field. The results confirmed that the received power, i.e., communication quality, fluctuates significantly due to signal attenuation caused by plant bodies and multipath effects. Furthermore, the measurements revealed that the variation trends of propagation characteristics differ depending on the crop vegetation density. Based on these findings, a propagation analysis model for greenhouse environments was constructed in a virtual space where the actual field was reconstructed three-dimensionally. In this model, structures representing leaves and stems were placed, and their electromagnetic properties were defined using the complex permittivity of plants measured in advance. Electromagnetic field simulations were then performed using these parameters. To represent the effect of crop vegetation density, the complex permittivity was modeled as a stochastic parameter, and multiple propagation paths were analyzed along the same transmission route. This approach enables the reproduction of the inherent uncertainty in plant characteristics. A comparison between the simulation results and the measured propagation characteristics showed that the overall radio wave propagation trends across the field were in good agreement. In addition, similar propagation characteristics were obtained in areas where the vegetation density varied. These results demonstrate that it is possible to reconstruct an actual agricultural field in a virtual environment and to develop a propagation analysis model that can adapt to environmental changes within the field.
