Proposal of a Virtual Retina Experiment Platform Using Unity

(in English) We propose a virtual retinal experimental environment for visualizing and analyzing responses of multiple retinal neurons to dynamic visual stimuli. Although physiological and anatomical studies have clarified major retinal neuron types and their typical response properties, their functional roles under natural visual conditions remain poorly understood. To address this issue, we constructed a Unity-based virtual environment that generates near-natural dynamic visual stimuli and feeds them into a retinal information processing model. In this environment, spatiotemporal filter parameters within the retinal model and output-stage spike generation models can be flexibly switched. Using this framework, we analyze how differences in spike generation models influence activity patterns and information encoding of multiple retinal neurons.
