Viscoelasticity measurement of tissue mimicking phantoms using dual ultrasound excitation

(in English) We have investigated a method for estimating local viscoelastic properties from the ratio of the resulting displacement to the acoustic radiation pressure by generating periodic shear strain in a localized region of an object by irradiating it with ultrasound from dual directions. In this study, we estimated the viscoelastic properties of tissue-mimicking phantoms with three different hardnesses. The Kelvin-Voigt (KV) and Kelvin-Voigt fractional derivative (KVFD) models were fitted to the measurement results. The KVFD model exhibited smaller differences between the measured and model values than the KV model. However, the magnitude relationship of the estimated viscoelastic parameters did not correspond to the actual hardness order of the phantoms. However, the magnitude relationship estimated by the KV model corresponded to the actual order of hardness. These results demonstrate that the KV model is useful for estimating the viscoelastic properties of biological tissues using this method.
