Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) When performing motor imagery manipulation, MI brainwaves are induced in the motor cortex region. MI brainwaves are enhanced by the sense of agency. However, it has been noted that the magnitude varies among participants. Therefore, we hypothesized that showing a demonstration video before the motor imagery task might enhance MI and conducted research to test this. The experimental environment involved controlling an avatar's actions within a virtual space using MI. Motor imagery tasks were performed for left turns, forward movement, and right turns. The effect of the demonstration video was verified by showing it before the tasks. Analysis focused on the power values in the mu wave (8-13Hz) band. We also analyzed parietal alpha waves. When participants performed motor imagery without the demonstration video, ERD occurred for all movement images. Subsequently, when the demonstration video was shown, the ERD increased. When participants performed motor imagery again without the demonstration video after viewing it, ERD disappeared for some movement imagery tasks. Measurement of parietal alpha waves suggested that viewing the demonstration video shifted participants from self-motor imagery to third-person motor imagery. This indicates that the effect of demonstration videos on MI ERD depends on the specific movement imagery task.
