Capacitive ECG (cECG) is a technique for acquiring cardiac signals using capacitive coupling formed through clothing between electrodes and skin. Previous studies have reported the measurement of heartbeats (QRS complexes) through clothing with up to 1.8 mm using a negative impedance circuit (NIC). In this study, a capacitance multiplier circuit (CMC) was introduced to enable measurements under lower coupling capacitance conditions. An equivalent circuit simulating clothing was constructed using commercially available circuit components, and the detection performance of the CMC and the NIC was compared and evaluated under identical measurement conditions. Accordingly, CMC enabled reliable detection under lower capacitance conditions than NIC, and successful QRS complex detection through 2.9 mm-thick clothing was confirmed in human participants. |
