Branched multimode polymer optical waveguides have been proposed as on-board multiplexers (MUX) for Shortwave Wavelength Division Multiplexing (SWDM) in VCSEL/MMF links. In this study, we achieve significant miniaturization of 1x2 branched and 2-dimensional (2D) 1x4 branched polymer optical waveguides using the Mosquito method by optimizing needle scanning paths. Furthermore, we fabricate a compact 3-dimensional (3D) 1x4 branched polymer optical waveguide by employing a unique structure that couples four cores at a single junction. We evaluate the performance of these waveguides for an application to MUX devices. |
