We first introduced an image-based automatic core-centering (auto-alignment) mechanism to automate the position correction during femtosecond-laser point-by-point FBG writing. For speed-up, a mechanical-shutter pseudo-burst scheme gated a 100-kHz pulse train at 10 Hz, achieving a 5.0-mm grating in 4 min, although the spectral characteristics degraded. Finally, a continuous-scan point-by-point method enabled high-throughput fabrication of a 5.0-mm FBG in ~5 s while maintaining a well-defined spectrum. |
