[Short Paper] Study on Simplifying Pattern Analysis for Large-Scale Array Antennas Using Formation Flying of Multiple Ultra-Small Satellites

(in English) To achieve direct communication between satellites and smartphones, a concept has been proposed in which multiple ultra-small satellites equipped with array antenna elements fly in a dense formation, with the whole functioning as a phased array antenna. In this paper, we analyze the antenna pattern for a planar linear array formed by densely deploying numerous microsatellites. Since electromagnetic field simulations become impractical when the number of antenna elements exceeds several thousand due to the large computational scale, calculations were performed using a simplified analysis method. We compare the results of this simplified analytical method, which derives the antenna pattern from the element pattern and array factor (AF), with those of electromagnetic field simulation, and demonstrate the effectiveness of the simplified analytical method.
