Introspective Sensing Framework for Mental Health Tracking

(in English) Recent advances in wearable sensing have accelerated mental health tracking. However, conventional self-report interfaces require users to make clear-cut judgments about their psychological states, which can contribute to self-stigma and response avoidance. To address this issue, we propose an introspective sensing framework that treats the response process itself as a sensing target. Specifically, we introduce an explicit uncertain option “?” in addition to “◯” (yes) and “×” (no), and combine it with decision latency to capture the introspection process as behavioral indicators. This design enables low-burden self-expression without explicitly labeling one’s mental state. In the experiment, we confirmed both the use of ambiguous responses and increased decision latency, suggesting differences in introspective characteristics based on tendencies toward affirmative versus negative judgments.
