An Algorithm for Identifying Bug-Introducing Commits Using AST-based Difference Analysis

(in English) The SZZ algorithm used for identifying bug-introducing commits is prone to misidentifying structural changes, such as refactoring, as bug-inducing. This study proposes an improved method that employs AST-based difference analysis to exclude code moves and renames as noise. Evaluation using five open-source projects confirmed that the proposed method achieves higher precision than conventional methods and significantly reduces false positives. Although a slight decrease in recall was observed, the approach demonstrates a substantial reduction in the investigation cost required to pinpoint bug-introducing commits from a vast number of candidates.
