Relationship between Interoception and Neural Activity Networks during Music Recall

(in English) Music recall is a cognitive process whereby an individual reconstructs music they have previously heard, emotions and scenes associated with it in their minds. Brain activity during music recall varies among individuals due to various factors, and among these, interoception, the ability to perceive internal bodily states and physiological changes has been suggested to be involved in the vividness of music recall. However, much remains unknown about the influence of interoception on the flow of information between brain regions during music recall. In this paper, when comparing connectivity between brain regions in two groups classified by interoceptive accuracy, we observed more connections from the frontal and central regions to the parietal and occipital regions in the group with higher group. These suggest that interoception is involved in the vividness of musical recall and the formation of musical symbols.
