Dynamic Assignment Control Method Leveraging the Temporal Flexibility of AR Requests in EON

(in English) Due to the rapid growth of Internet services, communication traffic has been increasing, and elastic optical networks (EONs) have attracted significant attention as a promising solution for efficiently accommodating this traffic.
In existing studies, for traffic scenarios assuming advance reservation (AR) requests, frequency assignment methods have been proposed to suppress time-domain fragmentation caused by communication reservations by delaying the allocation time of AR requests. However, since the allocation time is statically determined at the arrival of each request, the temporal flexibility inherent in AR requests is not fully exploited.
In this paper, we propose a frequency assignment method that dynamically controls the allocation time by more effectively utilizing the temporal flexibility of AR requests. Simulation results demonstrate that dynamic control of the allocation time reduces both the request blocking probability and the fragmentation ratio. Furthermore, by improving the fragmentation metric calculated at the time of request allocation and incorporating an evaluation factor that promotes the preservation of larger vacant blocks in the central region of the frequency slots, the network capacity can be increased.
