Comparison of Transmission Characteristics Between Sub-6 GHz-Band 5G Experiments and Digital-Twin Simulations in Indoor Factory

(in English) In the era of 6G that is the next-generation system of the 5th-generation mobile communication system (5G), cyber-physical system (CPS) which creates a new value by reproducing the physical space as digital twin in a cyber space, performing optimization over the limitation of the physical space, and feeding back to the physical space is noticed. While high communication performance is required for 6G as a transmission medium connecting the physical space and the cyber space, a higher quality network can be realized by reproducing the 6G network itself by digital twin and carrying out optimization utilizing it. The authors have developed a 5G/6G simulator that reproduces a specific environment as digital twin in cyber space by using point cloud data and that evaluates and visualizes radio propagation characteristics and wireless transmission performances by using the digital twin. We have already clarified the 5G propagation characteristics in an actual manufacturing factory. We have also measured and evaluated the 5G transmission performances in the factory by using experimental equipment. In this report, the 3.7 GHz band 5G transmission experiment conducted at the Omron Kusatsu Factory is reproduced using a digital-twin simulator, and the simulator’s performance is evaluated by comparison with the measured results.
