This paper presents an optimal sideband-weight design framework for reducing difference-frequency sidelobes in parametric array loudspeakers (PALs) using a convolution-based model. By optimizing the sideband weight function to ensure lower sound pressure outside the target directional region than within it, the proposed method enables the formation of a highly directional acoustic beam. The optimization problem is formulated by minimizing the sum of squared deviations between the audible sound generated by the convolution model and an ideal target sound field. Numerical simulations of PAL beam characteristics verify that the proposed method significantly suppresses off-target sound pressure while maintaining a sharp beam in the desired direction. |
