Our research group has proposed acoustic suction tweezers that do not require complicated phase control, but instead use only a single ultrasonic transducer and an acoustic focusing cap. This device enables the manipulation of spherical objects larger than half of the wavelength, as well as non-spherical objects, which are difficult to stably handle using conventional acoustic levitation devices. Because of its simple design, this device is suitable for low-power operation. In this study, with a view toward practical applications, we investigate the introduction of a battery-powered driving system using a commercial portable music player
and a portable amplifier, and present a fundamental step toward the mobilization of the proposed acoustic tweezers. |
