Confidence and System Load-Based Delay and Accuracy Control for Real-Time Mobile Application Identification

(in English) With the ubiquity of encryption, machine learning has become essential for mobile app identification, yet existing methods often fail in resource-constrained edge environments. During traffic bursts, computational bottlenecks lead to excessive latency, rendering real-time QoS control infeasible. This study proposes a traffic-adaptive classification system designed to ensure bounded latency without sacrificing accuracy. We introduce two core mechanisms: a confidence-based early exit strategy that skips redundant computations for stable sessions, and a dynamic control system that monitors new session arrival rates to switch to lightweight processing modes during congestion. Evaluations demonstrate that the proposed method reduces maximum latency from 426 seconds to 1.28 seconds while maintaining 82.5% accuracy. This approach successfully reconciles the conflict between limited edge resources and traffic fluctuations, enabling practical real-time identification.
