An Impact Analysis on Prejudice and Discrimination Caused by Stereotypes in LLM Decision-Making

(in English) As the outputs of large language models (LLMs) increasingly influence individuals and society, it is important to evaluate stereotypes based on attributes such as race and gender.
We argue that, among stereotypes, those that are problematic in that they may lead to negative attitudes (prejudice) or behaviors (discrimination) should be identified in advance, and that the behavior of LLMs should be modified accordingly.
In this paper, we present a methodology for automatically enumerating stereotypes in LLMs from a vast number of scenarios and for identifying problematic stereotypes.
We then comparatively evaluate nine LLMs using 70 types of questions that assume binary decision-making problems with no correct answer, and identify judgments that may lead to discriminatory decisions as pointed out in existing literature and current laws.
Furthermore, we identify stereotypes in new scenarios that have not been discussed in prior research and analyze the problems latent in their outputs.
Finally, in order to guarantee users the right to select appropriate LLMs based on their own values, we present guidelines for conducting stereotype evaluations through collaboration between policymakers and developers.
