A User-Centric Approach for Controlling Wi-Fi Handover Based on Application Context

(in English) In this study, we propose a user‑driven Wi‑Fi handover control scheme that integrates terminal‑side application usage states with communication quality indicators to select the most suitable access point (AP). Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to the default OS‑based handover mechanism, the proposed scheme improves AP selection during user mobility and effectively suppresses unnecessary handovers during active application sessions. A key feature of this scheme is its ability to stabilize user‑perceived quality by intentionally suppressing handovers during the execution of applications that require communication continuity, even when conventional quality metrics indicate potential improvement.
