(in English) Network tomography is useful for characterizing delay properties of AS segments in the Internet, where the number of segments is large, because it can reduce the number of measurement destinations required. In network tomography, the estimation unit is typically a link; however, when AS segments are used as the estimation unit, several challenges arise. Specifically, while
the value of each AS segment that constitutes diverse end-to-end paths must be uniquely determined, it is difficult to represent the delay of an AS segment as a single value due to diverse routing within an AS, making the measurement granularity too coarse. On the other hand, by refining the measurement granularity and dividing segments in both space and time, one can obtain more accurate delay distributions for segments, but the amount of data decreases, leading to lower estimation accuracy. Therefore, this study aims to identify an appropriate segment measurement granularity under the trade-off between data volume and identifiability of segment delay distributions, and discusses the estimation accuracy of segment delays when different granularities are used.
