A Study on AP-STA Pairing Optimization Using Decision-Making Methods in MLO-Aided Wireless LAN

(in English) This paper proposes a novel decision-making method for access point–station (AP–STA) pairing in wireless local area networks (WLANs) that considers multi-link operation (MLO), a key feature of the newest IEEE 802.11be standard. The increased utilization of frequencies and number of connected terminals enabled by MLO requires sophisticated control of connection statuses across multiple APs and STAs. In a centrally controlled system, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is implemented to optimize AP-STA pairing while considering MLO. The effectiveness of this approach has been verified through computer simulations, with data rate and latency serving as the evaluation criteria for pairing. The simulation results demonstrate that prioritizing latency over data rate improves load balance and fairness compared to established methodologies that prioritize data rate.
