Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Numerous single image dehazing methods perform well in daytime scenarios. However, their effectiveness is limited in nighttime environments due to the coexistence of multiple artificial light sources and light scattering (glow). Furthermore, it is difficult to acquire paired datasets of hazy and corresponding clean images for nighttime scenes. Though self-supervised learning method based on self-distillation has been introduced, this method often suffer from unnatural color shifts in the restored images and high computational costs. In this study, we propose a nighttime dehazing method based on self-distillation that incorporates a haze-invariant hue prior into the loss function. We employ a luminance based pseudo-haze generation and a lightweight network model. The proposed method achieves fast inference and improved visibility. Experiments show that the performance of the proposed method is comparable to existing methods.
